I'm bad at posting our safe arrival, my apologies, the drive went quite smooth, arriving late in the evening we setup in minutes and crashed. We have spent last night and today in Yukon Oklahoma and I am so glad we happened to stop through here. It has numerous skateparks to check out, since we were only staying today I had to make a decision. After picking Stars and Stripes Skatepark in Oklahoma City, we set off.
The skatepark was on the small side, very low grade ramps, some mini quarter pipes, and nice A frames for me to practice and get comfortable on. However the issue was the heat. The high to day was a record breaking 93, some areas saw 95. I did make some progression ollieing the A frames so after a half hour I had to call it.\
We cozied up in the cozy rv for the rest of the heat of the day and at 7:30 I decided it had cooled off enough to go skate again, I definitely didn't skate enough earlier. Instead of going back to the same skatepark I decided I'd hit up the skatepark that I originally was going to go to first then chickened out because it looked too big.
We made it to Matt Hoffman Action Skatepark, again in Oklahoma City. It is a much bigger park with a variety of small medium and large ramps and a killer bowl at the back. I started out slow, practicing ollieing up curbs in the plaza section and into a down wedge ledge. Landing at a different angle then taking off is weird.
At the end of the session I tackled my fear. The bowl. I dropped in apprehensively on the smallest side and it was already on the larger size for me. The bowl felt super smooth I learned a line from watching another skater and was able to do a slowed down version from my small drop in. I finally got the confidence to drop in on the deep side and sent it first try. I continued progressing in the big part of the bowl for the rest of the night. What a blast.
